Tammy Whalley - Sports Therapy

Sports Therapy BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy SST Reg.

I qualified in 2007 with a VTCT Level 3 in Sports and Fitness Therapy Techniques, Sports Massage Therapy, Management of Activity Injuries and Health, safety, security and employment standards. At the same time I gained my YMCA Level Two Gym and Exercise to Music Certification.
In 2008 I graduated with a Foundation Degree in Sports and Exercise Science, during this time I carried out an extensive rehabilitation clinic. In 2007 I started work with Torquay United as a Sports Therapist and continued with them through two seasons gaining extensive knowledge of soft tissue injuries and therapies.
After this I graduated in 2009 with a Second Upper Class Honours in Sports Therapy, since this I have had the pleasure of working with a National 3 Rugby Union side, the South West Champions Rugby League side, two international Rugby League stars and local athletes competing in a range of events.
I believe in treating the whole body, including the mind and recognise that anyone can suffer a soft tissue injury even if not doing a competitive sport. I have been part of The Massage Clinic Team for a year and during this time I have been fortunate enough to gain experience working with Anatomy Trains which concentrates on postural aspects of the human form. My interest is in functional anatomy of the body and how this causes biomechanical related injuries.
I myself enjoy various types of sports from running through to climbing mountains and believe that this gives me a good knowledge of different types of sport related injuries but also ensures that my skills cover a wide variety of soft tissue complaints. I have been part of the team at The Massage Clinic for a year and am looking forward to the future.
